ALMA VETLÉNYI: TURN THE PAGE
2025.02.13. – 03.12
Opening: 13 February, 2025, 6 PM

Imagine a window that, when opened, instantly transports you to a place filled with tranquility. At Alma Vetlényi’s solo exhibition, we embark on a journey whose first profound insight is that this place is, above all, within ourselves. Madeira means “tree”, but it also refers to the technique of cutwork embroidery. The unique power of an island lies in the solitude it provides, allowing us to step away from daily life while creating space for healing and self-compassion.

Alma weaves new paths while embracing the present moment, wherever it may find her. She closes one chapter and opens another. A key element is the connection to nature, which fosters the process of letting go. Creating a new life is a painful and, above all, lengthy endeavor—much like planting and tending a tree—but it is a commitment for which we can be deeply grateful to ourselves.

The exhibition combines photography, paintings, written text, and an interactive spatial installation to create a space where it becomes possible to confront stirring memories, define personal boundaries, and take courageous steps toward self-confidence and self-care.
