Join us on Friday, 5 February at 7 pm for the opening of Boglárka Dankó’s solo exhibition, Heresy in the Small Hours. At the artist’s first solo exhibition in Budapest, music for the evening will be provided by Ábris Novák.
Dankó Boglárka (1998, Szeged) lives and works in Budapest. She graduated in 2024 from the Painting Department at the Faculty of Arts, University of Pécs.
Her artistic practice explores transformations between human and animal figures through folklore and mythological narratives, set in dialogue with the visual culture of the 1990s and 2000s, with particular attention to television series and films. Her works emerge from the tension between nostalgia and contemporary digital image-making, often adopting an ironic or ambivalent tone. Embroidery lies at the core of her textile works, complemented by various appliqué techniques, including macramé, beadwork, and other mixed media.
She has participated in several local and international group exhibitions, most recently Tomorrow After Tomorrow Everything Will Change at OFF-Biennále Budapest, Waiting for the Larger Sun at hoast, Vienna and delulu is (not) the solulu at Rechnitzer Gallery, Budapest.
